This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) contains basic provisions that will guide the working relationship between both parties. This MOU may be amended, in writing, at any time with concurrence of both parties.
BASIC PROVISIONS OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
I. The Baltimore County Volunteer Center is part of the Baltimore County Department of Aging (the“Department”), a principal department of Baltimore County, Maryland (the “County”). It is a virtual volunteer center that promotes a culture of service countywide. Through partnerships with non-profit agencies and government entities, volunteers of all ages and abilities are connected with opportunities to engage in their community.
The Baltimore County Volunteer Center will:
a. Provide a free online portal for agency partners to advertise their volunteer needs. This portal will allow agencies to receive direct inquiries from interested volunteers.
b. Highlight and publicize partner agencies in an electronic newsletter distributed periodically to volunteers registered on the portal.
c. Offer periodic networking and training opportunities (convening) for agency partners. These sessions will include presentations on popular volunteer management topics.
d. Maintain ongoing conversation with agency partners to evaluate the effectiveness of the portal.
e. Reserve the right to remove any inappropriate content.
f. Reserve the right to remove an agency partner from the portal for any breach of this MOU.
II. Partnering Agency will:
a. Provide verification of non-profit status (EIN, tax exempt card) for approval to post volunteer needs on the free online portal.
b. Maintain an up-to-date profile on the portal. Update agency contacts as necessary.
c. Not post any requests with respect to any use which is in violation of County, State or Federal law, or is otherwise deemed inappropriate by the Department, in its sole and absolute discretion.
d. Respond to volunteer inquiries in a timely manner.
e. Vet volunteers, as required, according to the agency’s protocol. The Baltimore County Volunteer Center is a referral source and does not conduct any screening of volunteers. Agencies have the right to decline a volunteer who does not meet the criteria.
f. Contact The Baltimore County Volunteer Center (volunteers@baltimorecountymd.gov or 410-887-2715) if at any time they wish to be removed from the portal.
